Housebreaking
  • A natural urge in puppies.

  • Encourage appropriate items.

  • Have rawhide chew toys around.

  • Steak and Chicken Bones are dangerous!  Be watchful.

Be aware that some furniture polishes and cleaners may smell delicious to a puppy. If your favorite chair is being eaten, perhaps it's the polish.

Sometimes strong odors from shoes, socks and other personal apparel are very attractive to dogs. Keep closet doors closed and clothes in hampers to avoid animals from chewing on these items, especially when they are puppies. Trash cans should be kept off-limits, as well!

Have chew toys and rawhide items in an appropriate size readily available and in easy access.
