Housebreaking
  • Never Hit Your Dog

  • No Spray Bottles

  • No Choker Collars

  • No Throw Chains

  • Use coins in a can

  • Try rolled newspaper
    hit on the floor

  • Firm, not screamed
    command NO

  • Pointing hand gesture

Treating a dog with violent behavior as a disciplinary tactic, only leads to aggressive behavior problems. Pointing and firmly saying BAD DOG will yield better, faster results than screaming, yelling and smacking. The dogs kidneys are in the hind quarters where people tend to smack their dogs. This is dangerous and can lead to serious internal damage to your pet. Never let anyone strike any dog.

Choker collars and spiked collars should never be used. They can injure and have in many cases killed dogs.

Do not discipline your dog after a delayed event, such as running away from you. A young dog will not associate the punishment with what happened earlier. Discipline during or immediately following an event with a firm voice, pointing gestures and if needed startling sounds, for example shaking a can with coins in it. Your pet soon learns your moods and behaviors. They quickly understand when they are in the doghouse, and by not being "dramatic" when disciplining, you will reach an understanding more quickly.
