Healthy Puppies

Although every precaution is taken and a routine vet visit is given before delivery of your puppy, it is important to take your new family member to the doctor within 72 hours upon arrival.

Your vet will want to check a stool sample for common parasites and bacteria such as worms and coccidia.  Ears should also be checked for ear mites and ear infections.  Routine visits and vaccinations for your pet are very important to the health and longevity of his/her life.

Please note that those cute floppy ears need to be cleaned routinely with ear cleaning solution to prevent infection.  I use Vet Solutions, but contact your vet for his/her recommendations.  In addition, it is important to use a monthly preventative against heartworm and other parasites.  Contact your vet for his/her advice.  I use Interceptor because it covers more worms than Heartguard Plus.

Puppies get stressed when traveling to a new home, therefore diarrhea is common upon arrival.  If it persists for more than 2-3 days contact your vet for further assistance.

The health of your puppy is our number one priority.  If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to call.
