Mitral Valve Disease otherwise known as MVD affects the heart and
can be detected easily through a routine visit from your
veterinarian. MVD can be found in any breed, but is most common
in smaller breeds such as Chihuahuas, Miniature Poodles, Miniature
Pinschers, Dachshunds, Pekinese, Whippets and Cavalier King
Charles Spaniels. Although it is important to take precautions
such as routine vet visits before breeding, puppies who are diagnosed
with this disease can continue to live long happy lives even with MVD--depending on the severity. All of our dogs have been
carefully chosen with special attention to heart clear
parents, grandparents and great grandparents. In addition, Love
A Lot Cavaliers routinely checks all of our dogs for MVD before
breeding. As with any pure bred dog, there are genetic
disorders. However, in time and with proper breeding practice we may
be able to eliminate the hereditary problems that occur in pure
bred dogs.
